Mastering the MediaEven for the most senior executive, dealing with and engaging the media can be a daunting experience. Often even the most well spoken and confident executive can feel vulnerable when it comes to that all important media interview. Knowing exactly what to do when the tv news cameras are rolling can mean the difference between an average performance and a credible, persuasive interview. Mastering the Media will give you "insider" knowledge of how the media operates and the skills you need to feel confident with every media opportunity that comes your way. Participants will learn the vital techniques, which equip them with the necessary communication skills to deliver a positive key message in a range of delivery methods This highly interactive and hands on workshop will give participants detailed knowledge of how the media operates and trains you to maximise every media interview. Mastering the Media will be delivered to the specifications of each participant. The trainer - TV Newsreader and journalist of 22 years - Tina Altieri will complete detailed research before the training to develop realistic case studies for the mock interviews during the training session. This customised media training workshop gives participants plenty of practical, "hands on" time in front of the camera. TOPICS
LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the programme, participants should be able to demonstrate the following:
METHODOLOGY Trainer explanation of concepts. Group will review various recent and relevant TV interview examples demonstrating the concepts discussed in the workshop. Skills practice and role play to be shot "on camera" for playback and analysis. Every participant will have two "appearance" opportunities during the workshop. The first opportunity (before lunch) to demonstrate the topics discussed in the morning ie clarity and brevity in key messages/ perfecting the "sound bite". In the second half of the day, participants will demonstrate (in a lengthier interview) the overall techniques learnt throughout the day ie body language/ vocal presence/ credibility in delivery/ thinking on your feet. Each participant will take with them a DVD copy of their interviews. Each personalised DVD will contain only their interviews with clearly marked chapters so they can track their improvement. Each participant will be given a customised resource booklet covering all topics and techniques. TARGET PARTICIPANTS All levels of media performance capability. The training will be structured taking into account every individual's previous experience in dealing with the media. To achieve this a pre-course survey will be sent to all participants to give the trainer a thorough and comprehensive understanding of each participant's level of competency in this area.
